I have a customer who is having issues with her 11th gen fire tablet. It keeps giving her a SD Card alert, stating she has removed the SD card and to reinsert it but it has never been removed. We have tried tried a few things to fix this such as, remove it and reinstall it, she has bought a new SD Card and we formatted it as internal storage but she keeps getting the same message.
Has anyone ever came across this issue before?
When I look it up it says that several people have had this issue but there was no clear solution to the problem other than resetting the Tablet which the customer really doesn’t want to. Also if we reset it we don’t know if the issue will return.

Hi Lisa. Saw your question and had a few minutes during my volunteering time. Not sure if you found an answer yet. But, I entered your issue into chatgpt and it gave me a handful of possible issues.

chatgpt said you tried the best two options already. The number 1 likely cause is a hardware issue – loose or faulty sd card slot. The internal contacts (tiny metal pins) may be bent or dirty or worn out. The spring mechanism might not be holding the card firmly.

Another possibility is that the SD card may not be fully seating. Fire tablets can be very picky about how the card clicks in. Even a slightly misaligned card may lead to the constant “removed” alerts. chatgpt suggested pressing until you feel a distinct click and reinserting slowly and straight.

The other possibilities include an OS bug, formatting issue or dust in the card slot.

Anyway, I realize that this question was from months ago but I thought I’d look it up in chatgpt to see what I could find. Maybe this will help a customer down the road. And, I learned something new today!
